Fresh gallery-shop-studio is Going out of Business

Well, I am sad to say we must call it quits on our grand experiment. We are closing our doors at the end of July. We will be having the following events to reduce stock.

June 7: Sidewalk sale, great deals and everything in the store is 35% off
June 7: Studio garage sale. In the back of the buiding, off of the alley (enter from 7th or 8th streets). We will be selling wonderful craft tools, vintage furniture, fabrics, papers, tiles, tesserae, and too much to mention. Cool stuff and quite necessary to creative spirits.
June 14: Everything in store 50% off
July 19: All inventory 70% off, store fixtures on sale.

Call about the building, or check the blog next week, we will have information posted.

Thanks for all of your support. It has been a fun couple of years.

No More Snow!

Oh, am I glad it is finally spring. The past winter was a tough one for my spirits! THe sun is out now though and my flowers are all popping out of their earthy world andf into mine! I love walking in the garden and counting buds on those blooms that only greet me once a year! I am eagerly awaiting my peonies, iris, columbine and more while I am happy to see the bright blue of the forget-me-nots and the lovely shape of the bleeding hearts.

If you love the garden, make a point to schedule a trip to see some of the gardens of Atchison. THe Wild Iris Garden Club (so named because of the wild women that founded it - yours truly being one of them) is hosting the 2nd Annual Garden Tours Friday June 13 from 1pm - 7pm and Saturday June 14 from 10am - 4pm.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 the weekend of the event. Buy your tickets at any of the following:
Marigold Bakery-Cafe 715 Commercial, Fresh 721 Commercial or Snowball Ice Cream and Candy SHoppe 111 N 8th all in Atchison. You can mail in checks along with a self addressed envelope or request a will call ticket with your checks sent to:
Fresh 721 Commercial Atchison, KS 66002.

Part of the proceeds will go to helping create beautiful gardens at our local library.

The tours will have art by local artists on display at various houses. The art can be purchased at the booths set up in Atchison's Historic West End District along 8th Street between Commercial and Kansas Ave. While you are ther sample some tea as you will have stumbled right into the heart of our Garden Tea Party!

Winter Buying...Mission Accomplished!

Well, I have just returned from my third buying trip to the Phildalphia Buyers Market of American Art and Craft. I have to tell you that every time I go there I am overwhelmed by the incredible talent on display. There are so many talented artists in this world!

This year we focused on getting another jewelry artist and some more pewter work and succeeded. We also have more of the wonderful work by the Pennsylvania based studio "Wanna Buy a Watch?" that has been so popular in the gallery.

I had a great time at the market, not just because of the fabulous talent, but also because I got to spend time with my big sis. Shelly always turns these business trips into the most pleasurable events imaginabe! We had fun exploring the wares at the Reading Market, a place I highly recommend to adventerous types. It is also nice to spend time with her family there and this trip always coincides with her daughter's birthday.

Traveling was the usual winter nightmare, cancelled flights, lost luggage, delays and diversions. Luckily my big brother lives an hour south of Phildelphia so my diversion to Baltimore meant a bonus visit with him. There is something so very special about sharing memories and good wine with loved ones, I hope you all get a chance to indulge yourselves in something you enjoy too.

So, come by the gallery and check us out. The winter hours are still in effect, it was 16 degree below today when you factor in wind chill. Starting in March we will be open 5 days a week.
